Frequently Asked Questions
In the following sections you will find the questions that our students frequently ask us before embarking on a Spanish language trip in Malaga.
Questions about Spanish courses
What ages are the classes for?
Age should not be a problem! Studying Spanish in Malaga is easier than ever because we have programs for all ages:
- Spanish immersion programs for young learners (minimum age 14 years old).
- Spanish courses for adults, with no maximum age limit.
- Cultural programs for over 50 years old.
What type of course can I choose?
We offer Spanish courses for all levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Before starting your Spanish course, we will evaluate your knowledge of the language through a Spanish level test. With this test, we make sure that we assign you a class according to your level of knowledge.
If you also want a specific course to obtain a DELE Spanish certificate, we have such courses available.
At Málaga Plus we will advise you at all times. Tell us what your goals are with the Spanish language and we will be happy to advise you.
What services does the school offer to students?
At Malaga Plus we offer an authentic and complete Spanish language immersion in Malaga, offering not only Spanish courses but also accommodation (in families, apartments, residence, hotel) as well as a complete program of sports and cultural activities so that you can have fun learning Spanish with other students and get to know the Spanish culture better.
At Malaga Plus, we offer students all possible services, from printing the boarding pass for their return flight, to accompanying them to the doctor or pharmacy if needed. We are happy to answer any questions you may have. However, our most demanded free services are: free WIFI access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, library and reprographics service, car rental or cab, bus and train reservations, maps of Malaga and other cities in Andalusia, free mobile applications with guides of our city, etc.
Are class materials included?
Since the beginning of 2014, we have been working with the prestigious AULA manual, from the Difusión publishing house, in addition to having our own manuals. The books are offered on loan, which means that the student can use it during school hours but cannot take it home or write in it. In case the student wants to buy it, the price is 25 € and includes a cd-audio with the class auditions and an access to the online portal for a year to practice and do exercises at home. Ask for your keys with the purchase of the book!
Are holidays made up?
Holidays are listed in our brochure as non-teaching days, so they will not be made up.
Can I get a letter from the school to apply for a visa in another country?
Yes, the student must send us the registration form duly completed, detailing the type of course he/she wishes to take and the dates of the course.
Please note that the letter of admission to apply for the visa for studies entails an additional fee to the total price of the course. Once we receive the registration and payment of at least 50% of the fees, we will send the student a first confirmation of the Spanish program, as well as the documentation to obtain the visa. One month before the start of the course, the student must pay the rest of the outstanding fees. Finally, we will send the final confirmation, as well as practical information before the trip. Málaga Plus will only provide the documentation for the application. The student is responsible for managing his/her visa application. In case the student does not obtain the visa, Málaga Plus will reimburse the fees paid, except for administrative costs, bank charges, etc. The student must inform the school in writing of the visa refusal and provide written proof of the refusal, e.g. official stamp in the passport, official letter from the corresponding consulate or embassy. Málaga Plus will inform the corresponding Spanish authorities of the non-completion or early termination of the course.
When can I start my Spanish course?
New Spanish courses start every Monday.
Do I get a diploma after finishing my course?
At the end of your course you will receive a diploma which guarantees that you have successfully completed your Spanish course according to our syllabus which conforms to the standards of the Instituto Cervantes. In order to obtain this certificate, attendance must be at least 80% of the classes.
Questions about accommodations
What will my host families be like?
The families are carefully chosen and usually have experience hosting students. They only speak the native language, so they will be an excellent opportunity to practice the language after class, encouraging immersion in the country's way of life.
Can I bring guests to my accommodation?
The accommodations are exclusively for students enrolled in our courses, so it is not allowed to accommodate outsiders. In exceptional cases, if you need to accommodate someone you can ask the school secretary if there are any vacancies.

Questions about the city and Spanish customs
What are the business hours in Malaga?
Business hours depend on the type of establishment, but most remain open from 09.00 to 13.30 and from 17.00 to 21.00. Supermarkets and clothing stores do not usually close at noon. On Sundays most stores (stores, supermarkets) are closed, except for bars and restaurants.
What are the meal times in Spain?
Spanish timetables tend to be a little different from the rest of Europe. Breakfast is usually between 7:30 and 9:00. The main meal is usually between 14:00 and 15:00 and finally we finish the day with a lighter dinner between 20.30 and 22.00.
How do I get from the airport to the school?
We recommend you to take public transportation from the airport.
You should take the airport bus (Bus Aeropuerto "A" or Aeropuerto Express) to Malaga-Centro. A single ticket costs 4 €. The bus leaves the airport approximately every 30 minutes until 23:00. You can also take the suburban train from the airport to the city center. Once in the center (whether you have come by bus or train), you can take another bus from the "Alameda Principal" station. From here take bus number 11 or number 3 to "El Palo". The school is located next to the bus stop "Arroyo Jaboneros" (one stop after "Playas de Acacias").
If you prefer not to wait for the bus we recommend you to hire the transfer service with Malaga Plus; our driver will be waiting for you at the bus terminal to accompany you to the school or to your accommodation, giving you all the necessary information.
